Saturday, 11th August – Vicarage Road – 3 PM kickoff.

Brighton comes into the opening game season off the back of a successful season, in staying up. They’ve bought well over the summer with the likes of Jahanbakhsh, Andone and Balogun all of which could slot straight into the starting 11. Watford wants to forget a rather disappointing season after starting so well last year. Deulofeu is the headline coup, permanently signing for the fee of around £11m after impressing on his loan spell at the back end of last season. Although, many Watford aren’t happy about the lack of attempt to secure a striker for the season, a position which is the Hornets’ weakest area. Both teams wanting to build on last season and start with a win but I think Watford’s voodoo of not winning an opening game in the Premier League will continue as the game will end goalless, each side sharing the points. 1-1.

Notable Absentees:

Watford – Doucoure (chance), Deulofeu (doubtful) and Chalobah (major doubt). Cleverley, Wilmot, Okaka and Kaboul are all out.

Brighton – Murray (chance), Locadia (chance), Izquierdo (doubt), Steele (doubt) and Andone (doubt).
